It's been a busy week or two, and now for one of the final events of Bike
Month in San Diego -

 

Pedal to the Park! 

Sunday, May 25th

It's half bicycling. It's half baseball. It's totally fun!

A bike ride to the Padres game, supporting the San Diego County Bicycle
Coalition and City of San Diego Therapeutic Recreation Services

It's not too late to register for this special event - come on a great bike
ride (15, 25, and 50 mile options), see a Padres/Cincinnati Reds game, check
out the Padres new bike parking pavilion, and have a fun afternoon with all
your bicycling friends. Here's one person's experience last year -

 

"Thank you for a great outing and experience! The kids enjoyed themselves
and said they would do it again. I know that I enjoyed seeing parts of
Balboa Park

that I hadn't seen before or hadn't seen in years. The nice leisurely ride
allowed us to take it all in and enjoy some good conversation along the way.
The kids

also learned a lot about riding in the city and obeying traffic laws. All
and all it was a fantastic day - a great bike ride, a great baseball game,
and another

fantastic and sunny day in San Diego."

Brief Description:


Pedal to the Park (PTP) is a fundraiser combining cycling for all ages,
levels and abilities with optional Sunday baseball game (Padres vs Reds) at
PETCO Park. Your donation works 3 ways: for cyclists with disabilities; for
advocacy through the Bicycle Coalition; and for you (consult your tax
advisor).


Additional Information


Scenic bicycle-friendly routes (with detailed route slips) of optional
lengths between 10 and 50 miles will be available for everyone from
novices/families to elite cyclists. The 10 mile route will include guided
ride-along route support. Route maps and descriptions are posted at
http://pedaltothepark.com . On event day, you will check-in at the Balboa
Park War Memorial Bldg (north end of Zoo Parking lot) location to receive
your game ticket, and conduct your ride and baseball activities at the
leisure of your personal schedule and desires. Padres-Reds game time is 1:00
PM. Your bike will be parked in a secure, guarded Bike Parking Pavilion near
PETCO Park's main home plate entrance until you are ready to leave the game
and cycle back to starting location in Balboa Park via the direct 3-mile
route. HELMETS ARE REQUIRED FOR ALL CYCLISTS, AND ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST OBEY
ALL TRAFFIC LAWS. Please read and carefully complete the registration
questionnaire for the category of your choice. Note that certain categories
have the option of purchasing additional game seats within your single
registration session. All PTP Stage 3 seats will be assigned to individual
participants at the time of check-in at the War Memorial Bldg location on
gameday. This will allow groups of separately registered participants to
obtain seating preferences, on a first come first served basis, during the
ticket distribution process.
