Examples from the National Cycle City of Denmark

Dr. Jens Troelsen

Dr. Troelsen reports on the 20% increase in

bicycle use in the City of Odense, Denmark

(pop. 183,000) to show how attention to the

quality of the travel experience can coax

people into changing their travel habits.

Dr. Jens will show examples of the facilities

improvements and advertising campaigns

used to accomplish this dramatic change,

and discuss how to redirect our thinking from

planning by bean-counting (our phrase) to

quality-based transportation planning.
