[SDCBC] What where they thinking?

I have consistently strongly favored individual accountability, a concept
which is evidently out of favor with some folks. I recall Michele Young's
defense attorney almost making her, a drunk driver with a previous DUI on
her record, sound like a victim along with Cece Krone. "Well I hope they got
what they wanted -- they put a 50-year-old housewife in jail."

It is also extremely easy to tell whether a motorist was yakking on the
phone (or texting!) at the time of a collision, and that should be
admissible as evidence. The next thing we have to do is to stop kicking
bicyclists off of jury panels during voir dire (been there ... done that).

In addition to improvement of pedestrian facilities, better traffic
design and reduced speed limits, how about mandatory hard prison time in
a maximum security facility like Chino and increased fines for the jerk
off motoriests who mow down pedestrians and cyclists with impunity. As
a motorist, if you mow someone down, you basically get a slap on the
wrist. Oopsie! You failed to yield and splattered someone all over the
street! Well, here ya go, Mr./Mrs. Cell phone yakker motorist...don't
you worry your little head...it was the biker/pedestrian's problem for
failing to get out of the way as you plowed him down in the crosswalk....
