Does anybody onteh SDCBC list have anything else to say to Bill Paul?

Bicycle access to the South Bay Expressway is coming! This is a mostly
rural toll road with bike lanes on the shoulders between Birch Rd.
and Otay Mesa Rd. There will be no toll for bicycles.
The road is open, but unfortunately, bicycles won't be allowed until
some time next summer. When it opens to bicycles, it will be your
best route.
WB on Otay Lakes Rd.
S on Eastlake Pkwy.
W on Birch Rd.
S on South Bay Expressway (California State Highway 125)
W on Otay Mesa Rd. (California State Highway 905)
S on Caliente Ave.
W on airway Rd.
S on Old Otay Mesa Rd., which becomes E. Beyer Blvd.
If you want to stick with a route that's now open, you
might arrange for a more exciting ride if you take the
shoulder of I-805 from Main St. south to Palm Ave. It's
open to bicycles.
Your current route looks OK. I've ridden all of it at
one time or another.

years back I also devised a bicycle touring route from the Tijuana border
crossing up through the mountainous areas of CA, OR and WA, ending in
Vancouver, BC, Canada. I authored a guidebook for the route -- both were
titled "The Pacific Crest Bicycle Trail." The book is now out of print, but
the Adventure Cycling Assn. out of Missoula, MT has contracted with me to
update the route this summer so they can provide their own set of maps for the
entire route. It is a paved-road route.

Japatul Valley Rd., Lyons Valley Rd, Honey Springs Rd., Otay Lakes Rd.,
Telegraph Canyon Rd., Oleander Ave., Main St. in Chula Vista, Beyer Way,
Picador Blvd., Smythe Ave., Beyer Blvd. and then East Beyer Blve. to the
Tijuana border crossing.

of Chula Vista, and if the route I described above is a good bike touring
route, or if you or someone else could recommend a better route.

Lower Otay Lakes, but beyond that, headed south, I'm very open to suggestions.
I will be down in that area in July driving prospective routes and taking
notes for Adventure Cycling, so any help with this would be appreciated.
