OK all you bike path lovers and haters. Here is another story from the U-T
for you to chew on. It's about the new section of bike path along Plaza
Bonita Rd.

And if you want to go a little farther a field, here is a link to a series
of San Francisco television news stories about the San Francisco bike plan.
This plan proposes to take out auto parking and vehicle lanes in some places
to make room for bike lanes. You have to go through all four reports to get
the full range of opinions expressed, from outraged motorists, the skeptical
reporters, the supportive police spokesperson, and the SFBC advocate. In
particular, take note are the comments from the Bay Areas' Metropolitan
Transportation Commission about the effectiveness of bicycle advocacy in the
Bay Area. It shows what can happen when you show up and speak up.

As for me, I think we need both better on-road bicycling conditions, and a
better system of interconnected bike paths. Both can be used effectively and
relatively safely by any bicyclist who knows how to properly operate his or
her bike.
