Great videos, but I don't think I'd use these as advertising for bicycle use, the lane splitting in particular looks like a hair raising experience.

Subject: [SDCBC] YouTube - SoCal Arterials and Lane Splitting videos

LAB Cycling Instructor Dan Gutierrez has posted more of his and LCI Brian DeSousa's traffic cycling videos on youtube (links are below).

The first is particularly relevant to our recent discussions on this list and demonstrates how to ride on high speed arterials. These are in the L.A. area, but they are typical of what we have in San Diego.

If a picture is worth a thousand words, a video must be worth ten thousand. Take a few minutes to check these out when you get a chance. FWIW, this is my idea of cycling advocacy.

NOTE: head turn scans are NOT properly demonstrated in these videos because head turning messes with the video (the cameras are attached to their helmets), so they rely totally on mirror scans, which is frowned upon by most LAB instructors. Dan and Brian are working on some kind of video equipment setup that won't have this issue. If you find yourself gtting annoyed that they are not turning their heads, that's good.

Serge
