[SDCBC] Calendar of events for April and May

Yes, bicycling season has begun in earnest. The Coalition is BUSY in the
months of April and May - here's a list of events coming up - mark your
calendars!

 

Sunday April 6 - Velodrome Swap Meet. Vendors/SDCBC setting up at 8:00,
general public allowed at 9:00 or so. San Diego Velodrome.

Wednesday April 9 - Volunteer night. Newsletter folding, swapping stories,
eating food. How could it get better than that? 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Standley
Recreation Center, 3585 Governor Drive, San Diego. 

 

Saturday April 12 - Road II class begins in Clairemont.

May 3rd. Free to qualified students.

 

Sunday April 13th - Ride and Learn, Lake Miramar. Meet at Action Cycling at
9:00, or Lake Miramar restrooms at 9:30 for a good ride around the lake.

Saturday April 19th - Road I class begins in Oceanside. Contact
execdir at sdcbc.org for details. 9:00 to noon each of three Saturdays, 19th,
26yh, and May 3rd.  

 

Sunday April 20th - EarthFair in Balboa Park. Volunteers needed for two hour
blocks all day (9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.) to staff valet bike parking at
Museum of Man and at Children's Theater. For more information or to

Wednesday April 23rd - SDCBC Board meeting. 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. downtown
office, 740 13th St, Suite 220.

 

Friday April 25th - Road I class begins. 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. on the 25th
(Friday) and  9:00 to 2:00 on the 26th (on Saturday). Downtown office, 740
13th St, Suite 220. Food provided. Free to qualified students.

 

Wednesday April 30th and May 1st - Pedal Power in Sacramento. Annual state
celebration of bicycling and discussions with legislators. See
www.calbike.org for details.

 

Saturday May 3rd - Kids rodeo, Chula Vista. Otay Recreation Center. 9:00 to
noon. Contact execdir at sdcbc.org for more information. $10 suggested
donation.

 

Saturday May 3rd - SDBC Barrio Logan Grand Prix. See www.sdbc.org for more
details.

 

Saturday May 10th - Kids rodeo, Chula Vista. Otay Recreation Center. 9:00 to
noon. Contact execdir at sdcbc.org for more information. $10 suggested
donation.

 

Saturday May 10th - Ride the River! Celebrate the San Diego River as part of
San Diego River Days. Meet at the Town and Country parking lot on the north
side of the river in Mission Valley, 8:30 gathering for 9:00 start of ride.
We'll ride a loop out to Dog Beach and back. Free.

 

Sunday May 11th - Ride and Learn - Pedal to the Park preview. Ride the 10
mile Pedal to the Park family route with the SDCBC certified instructors.
Meet at Balboa Park at 9:00 a.m.  Free. www.pedaltothepark.com for more info

Monday, May 12th - Oceanside Historic Bike Tour. 9:00 am at Oceanside City
Hall.  It will be about a 10 mile cruise through Historic Oceanside and some
of the SLR Trail.  The Dasani Blue bikes will be available first come first
serve.  Helmets are required. Contact doloreswells at hotmail.com for more
information.

 

Wednesday, May 14th - Pit stop party.  Hosted by Karl Strauss Brewery, the
kick off party for all our pit stop hosts and any bicyclists who would like

Friday, May 16th - Bike to Work Day!!!! Ride by one of nearly 50 pit stops
throughout the county. Check out

Saturday, May 17th - Kids bike rodeo at Rady Children's Hospital. 9:00 to

Sunday May 18th - Zumwalts Demo Day and Poker Ride. Raffle will benefit the
Bicycle Coalition, so come on out! www.zcbikes.com for more info.

 

Sunday May 25th - Pedal to the Park! Don't miss this great opportunity to
ride a great ride, see a great game, and do some good! Options for riding
only, ride plus game, and other combinations give you the flexibility to hit

There's probably some more out there, but that's what's on my calendar right
