[SDCBC] What were they thinking?

I agree with Mark. And the relative ease of using motor vehicles is also a
big impediment to cycling, in addition to the hilly terrain and relatively
long distances most people regularly travel in socal.
This is perhaps made most obvious in relatively flat and dense areas with
parking and traffic congestion issues, like Pacific Beach, where bicycling
seems significantly more popular than in most other SD areas, despite the
streets being no more complete and the traffic behavior not being any more
rational to any significant degree.
