[SDCBC] Big sign in bike lane at Chart House

I am not sure of the name of the restaurant from last summer, however it is
definitely on the east side of the road not the west.
Last summer, the response to the problem from this group was incredibly fast
and effective. The problem was resolved quickly. I still tell the story to
my cycling friends as I pedal in that area.
My post from 7/29 last year is below.
A restaurant (Dino's?) on the Pacific Coast Highway's 'Restaurant Row'
between Solana Beach and Encinitas has placed 4 white cones in the bike
lane. The restaurant is on the east side of the street, the farthest north
building, in the area across the street from the Chart House and several
other restaurants. This restaurant has placed 4 white plastic cones in the
bike lane about 1 foot to the right of the white line dividing the motor
vehicle lane and the bike lane. These cones are 3-4 feet high, about 4
inches across, have their own base so are not permanently fixed onto the
street and are tied together with rope that is 8-12 feet long.
These cones should not be in the bike lane.
They were observed when northbound about 10AM and again when southbound
several hours later.
If a cyclist hits one of these cones, quite possibly a fall will result
especially since these 4 cones are tied together.
Hopefully a recipient of this SDCBC list can forward this email to someone
who can have the restaurant remove this dangerous obstruction from the bike
lane.
Thanks

Are you referring to Yogi's, Darryl? Directly notifying the owner and cc'ing
a couple of members of the Encinitas City Council seemed to work pretty
well, although there were a few relapses. I have already notified City
Council members Barth and Houlihan -- I'll see if I can find appropriate
contact information for the Chart House corporate offices.
All the best,
John E.

On July 29th of last year I reported a similar situation with Dino's
restaurant across the street from the Chart House. Cyclists on this list
quickly jumped on the situation and had the obstacles removed quickly.
Possibly those same techniques can be used to remove the similar obstacles
in front of the Chart House.
BTW, I did not notice these barriers when I pedaled north bound Saturday
around 10:30 AM or southbound around 3:00 PM.
