Subject: [SDCBC] South Bay Dangerous Bike Path Change
One of our riders took a nasty fall in the South Bay area due to a change in
the bike path.
Heading south from Chula Vista to Imperial Beach, as one pedals to the end
of the bike path approaching the Home Depot and the short street leading to
Palm Avenue, additional poles have been erected in the bike passage area or
'gate'. The rider had passed here many times and was not expecting the
additional poles until it was too late to avoid hitting them. He tells me
that the poles are now so close together that bikes have to be lifted over,
the handlebars will not fit between the poles.
This gate is intended to be used by bicycles yet it is now impossible to
pedal through the gate. For safe passage on this bike route, these
additional obstacles should be removed.
