[SDCBC] Fwd: MTC to study Idaho "stop-and-roll" law

It is easy to get around most "slippery slope" arguments, including this one. The spirit and intent of the stop sign law is to establish right-of-way priorities and to force motorists and cyclists to slow sufficiently to be able to stop instantly and to slow for a long enough period of time to assess traffic at the upcoming intersection thoroughly. Slowly creeping forward satisfies this requirement handily; flying or blasting through clearly violates it blatantly.

I am much more concerned about the "slippery slope" in the other direction, such as a "foot on the ground" definition of a stop for a bicyclist -- I would consider this definition completely unacceptable selective enforcement.

It is a slippery slope!  If they are already rolling through stops, with the law change, they will be flying through the stops.
