Gerry, Mary, Elaine, Rose, Christine, Rob, Deborah, and Biren... and
any others interested:
I'm afraid that I must hear firm commitments from a sufficient number
of people before I can confirm at this late date a Road 1 course
offering that qualifies for the SDCBC grant funding - a free to you
class. Instruction that does not qualify would normally include a fee
per student of approximately $50 determined by the number of
students. I hope you understand.
So, please contact me by 4 PM today, June 12th to confirm your
attendance. I will reply to each of you to confirm the whether we
will have a class or not.
Based on responses so far and on my willingness/availability to
prepare and provide the course.... here's what I am offering.
Friday the 13th 6:30 PM to approximately 9:30 PM
Sunday the 22nd 9 AM to approximately 3 PM with "working"-lunch break
Related information about the course:
For Friday, 6:30 PM, all you will need is yourself. We will provide
all materials necessary... LAB workbooks, Street Smarts booklet,
Regional Bike maps, PowerPoint presentation, LAB DVD or Video
"Effective Cycling", and "expert trainer"/me.
For the ride/workshop day, 9 AM - bring your bicycle ready to ride,
your bicycling helmet, clothing for the weather both for
outdoor/indoor stationary workshop/class activities and for roadway
riding. All riding will be leisurely paced on neighborhood and local
arterial roadways... maybe five miles total. We will break for lunch.
You may bring your lunch or use a local eatery... we may ride to some
if everyone agrees.
The course is to be provided in the Normal Heights area of San Diego,
south of I-8, north of Adams Ave, between I-15 and 805. Specific
location will be provided to confirmed participants.
Yes, if/when we meet the minimum number of students, the grant picks
up the costs... it's free. Otherwise $50 each for six or more.
