Dear Sdcbcers:
Good evening. As the Executive Director and the Newsletter Editor know
all too well, I've a little hobby of photographing biek lane
obstructions. This morning is was just a Time-Warner cable van on Nobel,
no cones out but the sightlines were clear.
On the way home, it's too bad I couldn't get a good angle and was a bit
far away, but so far this is the grand rize winner. On Miramar Road,
just east of the intersection with Nobel (a turn I strive to take wide
so I can get a good look at what's in the first few hundred feet of the
bike lane before I commit to riding in it, although I hasten here to
note that's what I do, not necessarily the policy of the SDCBC) were
parked, in order from about three yards east of the intersection on
east, a Metropolitan Transit System supervisor's or traffic
investigator's minivan, with the rear hatch open, a very large MTS
mechanic's truck, with tires, liftgate, air and water hoses (not quite
18-wheeler, but definitely in the commercial vehicle class), a four door
sedan ith a crushed rear bumper and one tow truck, soon joined by a
rather larger tow truck.
I'll not know for a while how the pictures turned out (I still hve to
finish the roll), but adding to the luster of this grand prize contender
is the busted down (but mostly out of the bike lane) transit bus I'd
already passed at the intersection of Miramar and Camino Santa Fe.
