The South Shores Promenade, which runs along the south shore of
Mission Bay westward from W. Mission Bay Dr., was dedicated today
(Friday, June 6, 2008).
The adjacent bike path, which was closed during construction of the
promenade, was reopened.
Several local politicians, including Donna Frye and Kevin Faulconer,
whose districts include Mission Bay, and hizzoner Mayor Jerry Sanders,
attended the dedication. So did some local bicyclists and some employees
of Sea World, including Shamu.
Jim Baross made a grand entrance:

The three small bicycles were ridden by Frye, Faulconer and one other
VIP for a short distance along the Promenade as part of the
dedication ceremonies.
Recreational bicyclists may want to ride on the new promenade, but
through bicyclists will probably prefer the old path.
