[SDCBC] SD Police: "You need to be in the bike lane"

He didn't cite me this time, and I have no reason to believe he would
do so next time. I didn't do what he suggested, and just kept riding
the way I always do. When the light turned green, they followed along
at my speed for a bit, then accelerated and left. If they weren't
going to issue a traffic citation or even give me a strict warning
then, I'm not sure why they would next time.

I've been commuting along this route for eight years, and this is the
first time I've ever had any kind of interaction with a police officer
(except the arguably well-deserved time I ran a red light at night,
after stopping and yielding, in order to catch up with another cyclist
to let her know that her rear light was not operating).

I think educating law enforcement couldn't hurt, and might help, but
it is certainly not necessary in order to ride vehicularly in San
Diego, and I sure don't see a need for it that is "desperate".
