[SDCBC] Nice words for the SDPD.

Dear SDCBCers:
How about some praise for the SDPD? I'll start -- on Friday's commute
home I called the dispatch line (619.531.2000 for those playing at home)
to report three vehicles illegally parked in a signed, striped and
stenciled 'No Parking/Bike Lane" on Nebel Drive (yup, my hobby again).
Four hours later, the SDPD dispatcher called my home nomber to ask if I
was still in the area and could tell them if the vehicles were still there.
So why is this praise? With all the vehicular mayhem and acute traffic
disruption that accompanies a typical San Diego Friday afternoon
commute, the dispatch center kept track of a realatively low priority
item, and hours later tried to confirm if the information was still
valid and worth assigning to a unit.
Saturday morning, as I rode past the area, I saw two vehicled I'd not
remembered from Friday night parked illegally in precisely the same
area, with little yellow envelopes stuck under their wiper blades.
In other public safety praise notes, I'd like to take this opportunity
to note I once saw one of the Downton Clean and Safe Ambassadors riding,
looking about and making hand signals with such scupulous care,
attention to other road users and clarity you'd mistake him for a League
Cycling Instructor being a good example except that I was the only other
cyclist on the street. It almost makes up for the SDPD officer on a bike
I saw rolling west on E street (one way eastbound) before turning right
to head north on Fourth Street (one way southbound).
