I'll go after the guy that right hooks me (fat chance that'll happen...)
But to go after a construction company, which will just pass the cost
on to the taxpayers for a mistake on my part won't happen. Maybe it's
from growing up in the midwest, but where I'm from we take
responsibility for our actions. I'm forever yelling at my kids to look
ahead when they're riding and to pay attention to what's coming up. As
an MSF instructor I was forever saying the same thing to motorcyclists.
It simply amazes me how many people only pay attention to that patch
of ground 5 feet in front of them, and not a hundred yards or better up
the road. If she hit something laying in the road because she didn't
have time to react, then she was going too fast for conditions.
Regardless of whether it should be there or not. They set those orange
signs in the bike lanes all the time, yet you don't run into those do
you?? It is irritating, yes but 21208 says you can take the lane if
there's a hazard.
