Right, and not only do I prevent my front wheel from getting ahead of a rear
bumper on my left, but in that situation I usually look back,
signal/negotiate if required, and move left, getting directly behind
(preferably in the driver's rear view mirror visual zone) the
slowing/turning vehicle if not passing it on the left. That yellow raised
barrier design in the
photo<http://www.nieuwsuitamsterdam.nl/English/2008/04/blind_spot.htm>physically
inhibits or even prevents the cyclist from being able to do that,
even more than the painted bike lane stripes (solid or dashed) that go all
the way to the intersection around here inhibit/discourage cyclists from
doing it.
