I have a fixed gear, probably similar to John Forester's Paramount. Mine is
a 1969 Paramount with the chrome frame. No brakes, the only street use it
gets is a tune up ride up and down the street. I had it out the other day.
It's been a few years since I rode it at the Velodrome but it is nice to dream
... Maybe one of these years, still want to break 13 seconds for the flying
200...
The article really seemed to be mostly about "city bikes" and only mentioned
the popularity of the fixed gear in passing. I think it is interesting to see
the increased popularity of the fixed gear and single speeds. With some
younger folks, it seems almost to be a cult, something to bring them together.
City Bikes... They are finally listening to Andrew Lee... Getting people on
bikes means building good quality bikes for people who are not enthusiasts.
Next step, 22mm inner tubes...
Jon
