[SDCBC] Every Ghost Bike is A Caution

I'm lukewarm on ghost bikes. They're fine as memorials, but in terms
of "social utility", I think it's possible that they serve to
exaggerate the perceived dangers of cycling on roads more than they
make anyone a safer driver or cyclist.

I continue to believe that the main reason more people don't ride
their bikes is because they don't know that it can be done quite
safely, given the roads, designs and drivers all as they are right
now. A ghost bike can easily send the opposite message: that
bicycling on roads is inherently dangerous, no matter what the cyclist
does. I think it's an odd notion for cycling advocates to be
promoting. An anathema, really.
