Rob,
We live in the area and frequently use that route, particularly after the
summer season when the Zonies have left town and beach traffic isn't so
insane. To my knowledge this is the first I've heard of any specific "Del
Mar Powerhouse" traffic cones, although occasionally some rental trucks
would cone off the drop-off area near the powerhouse for a wedding. It may
be that the city government has decided to make a buck charging for
reserving portions of the powerhouse park for the wedding parties that are
held there regularly on weekends. I'd check with them next, and if this is
the case, it's probably something new and they just aren't up to speed with
what the state law is.
Good Luck,
Tony

Subject: [SDCBC] Del Mar Powerhouse community center traffic cones.
Dear People Who Ride a Lot:
Sunday's return to Pacific Beach from Dana Point was slightly
inconvenienced when the "low road" bike lane was blocked off by traffic
cones marked "Powerhouse," as in Del Mar Powerhouse Community Center.
This was about 2:30 PM. I'll try to call the Community Center tomorrow about
that to see if this was a temporary case of bad cone placement or something
they do all the time when unloading a truck (at least I think that's what
they're doing).
Have more frequeent coast riders noticed this?
Robert Leone
