And I was accosted by the police for carefully stopping to use my 
phone! I don't use it much, and back then I had even less skill. I 
was planning to pick up a traveler at the San Diego Airport, but 
waiting to receive a call as to arrival. There was some confusion. I 
was slowly driving past one of the normal pickup points when the 
phone rang. So I pulled over to answer it, and got chased away by a 
police car, whose occupant evidently preferred that I answer the 
phone while driving to doing so when stopped. Being unable, through 
lack of skill and excess of caution, of getting the phone into its 
answering state while driving, I went away to where I could park 
again and awaited another call saying where and when.
