[SDCBC] Cyclist Monument on Olde Highway 80

For about three years, there has been a small monument to
Ralph Simpson on the north side of Olde Highway 80 (also
known as Highway 8 Business) near the crest of the hill
west of Los Coches Road. The monument contains bicycle
parts.

The monument is on a major Class II bike route.

Today I was told that Ralph Simpson died of a heart attack
while riding his bike near the monument. Apparently, his
widow maintains it. There were fresh flowers on the
monument this afternoon:
