Stephan's route should work well. Alternatively, avoid the C'bad 5000 area
entirely by catching El Camino Real at Carmel Mountain Road. It winds around
a bit and jogs at Via de la Valle, but it is VERY scenic, and traffic
shouldn't be bad on a Sunday morning.

Between Tamarack and Oak, take the Coastal Rail Trail along the railroad,
then probably Jefferson up to Laguna, then State.

I am leading a training ride this Sunday from Qualcomm Stadium area to San
Clemente and return. The Carlsbad 5000 is that day, there are numerous road
closures, see the link.

It appears that the best route is to take Tamarack to Jefferson or so,
then go North to some street that will get us past Mt View.
Can anyone recommend specific roads to facilitate our fumbling along these
streets?
