[SDCBC] Bad things happening in La Mesa yesterday

I feel that I should tell everyone about this not to bum everyone out but just to keep everyone informed.
Bad news: Four of my rear spokes were smashed out by a "baseball bat" thrown by a truck driver.
Good news: Nobody was hurt and Joe at Big Ring Cyclery has the spokes to fix my wheel.

12 March 2007 11:45AM La Mesa Blvd and University in La Mesa. Large white box truck with lift gate and single rear axle. Driver was a shorter white male with dark hair in a brown uniform on drugs (I'm not sure which drugs, probably the kind that make you lose all control and rage at anything you can find). If this guy wants to talk with you, just ride away.

I'm not going to get into the details because this has happened plenty of times to me during my 20+ years of commuting (not the baseball bat thing though) and it will happen again. I do want to say that when I was commuting I always carried a pen and paper and for quite a while actually videotaped every ride with a helmet cam. Yesterday I thought I didn't have a pen (it was pointed out that I did have one in my collar by the LMPD officer later) so I didn't get enough information to really ID this guy. The name on the side of the passenger side door was "K_ _ _ _ _ Trucking" or "K_ _ _ _ _ _ Logistics." I wish I had used my pen and written down more info. Throughout this situation I was riding within the law, this was his problem entirely.
I know I don't like reading these emails because bikes are fun and when I read about bikes I want it to be fun, so sorry about that.
