Rather than some sort of "actuarial inevitability," to which Mr. Leone took umbrage (as do I), I
view it as more of a Darwin Corner.

I lived over there for a few years, and rode that path quite a lot.  I ALWAYS gave a shout out
before entering (as I did on the chicane on the RC Bike Path a bit north of Santa Fe Street (where
there were ALSO many collisions)) AND stayed to my right.

Sadly, many others don't think to do anything of the sort.

Also sad that the signs and lines that John Forester references probably WOULD be of some help at
this spot.
