We have a need for some ride leaders - especially for the Monday and Tuesday
morning rides! Please email me if you are available to help out.

Greg,

We have finalized the following schedule of bike rides for the 2007 Bicycle
Leadership Conference.

We have made arrangements with Peter at Bike Tours San Diego to provide
rental bikes for our attendees that need them, although he may not have
enough, and would appreciate a recommendation for a back-up rental dealer if
we need one.

Sunday February 4 9:00 AM leaving from the Bahia Resort and Hotel.
We have 43 riders pre-registered.
If possible I we could use a minimum of two ride leaders, one for fast
riders and one for slower riders (assuming we have any). Routes are up to
your leaders - and if I remember they do ask our riders what they would
prefer based on what is available from our location. Length of this ride is
also up to your leaders and our riders - conference registration starts at
1:00 PM.

Monday February 5 7:00 AM leaving from the Bahia Resort and Hotel.
Please let me know if we will need lights available for our riders at this
time of the morning and I will arrange for loaners. We have 74 riders
pre-registered. I am thinking we will need three to four leaders for this
larger group, and again we will need to determine if they are divided
between fast and slower groups. Breakfast starts at 8:00 AM and the program
starts at 8:55 AM, so this ride will need to be a 60 to 90 minutes max. Your
leaders are invited to join us for breakfast - and to join the meetings if
they are interested. The Monday agenda is posted on our web site -
www.bicycleconference.org and all they will need to do is check in with me
if they want to attend the sessions so I can give them a guest badge.

Monday February 5 3:30 Soft Pedal Bike Ride. Leaving from the Bahia
Resort Hotel. This is a slow ride all the way around. Ed Bagley Jr. is
going to be the official "leader" but you will need to provide the real
rider leaders. We have 102 riders pre-registered. This ride will include
some inexperienced riders. The Bikes Belong Coalition would like to make
sure that the route covers any bike facility projects, like bridges or
dedicated bike ways that can be worked in. Given the rider networking goal
of this ride it should also be off street and away from traffic as much as
is possible given the location. The group does not have to be back until
5:45 - 6:00 PM at the latest - but the distance should be no more than 10-12
miles ( 5-6 miles out and 5-6 miles back - with a longer option for those
that want to stay out longer). I am thinking five to six leaders - but will
leave this to your judgment given the size and nature of the group. Your
leaders are welcome to join us for dinner to hear Ed Bagley Jr. speak. The
reception is 7:00 PM and dinner at 8:00 PM. Again, they just need to check
in with me to get guest badges.

Tuesday February 6 6:30 AM leaving from the Bahia Resort Hotel. Note
that this is one-hour earlier, and please let me know about the need for
lights. We have 73 rider pre-registered. Again, I am thinking we will need
three to four leaders for this group, and again we will need to determine if
they are divided between fast and slower groups. The Breakfast Program
starts at 7:30 AM, so this ride will need to be a 60 minutes max. Your
leaders are invited to join us for breakfast - and to join the meetings if
they are interested. The Tuesday agenda is posted on our web site -
www.bicycleconference.org and all they will need to do is check in with me
if they want to attend the sessions so I can give them a guest badge.

We will give you prominent mention from the podium and on our web site post
conference...a complimentary conference registration for your Executive
Director and pictures to post or use as you feel appropriate. We will also
duplicate any maps that you or your leaders want handed out to our riders.
I am arriving in San Diego Thursday February 1 in the early afternoon.

Call tomorrow - toll free 888-228-8058 or E-mail a good time for me to call
you so I can answer any questions that you may have. In case we don't talk
before I leave February 1, my cell phone number is 608-385-3077, and I would
be happy to buy you a lunch or dinner if you want to meet at the Bahia
February 2 or 3 before the Conference kicks off.

Looking forward to seeing you again, and to meeting your ride leaders.

Thank you!

Jay
