Interestingly the plan also proposes to ban running (with or without
scissors, one presumes) on the Guy Fleming trail, one of my favorite parts
of any run in or around the park, because there have been complaints of
people being startled when overtaken.
Surely some overly zealous runners have brushed by some static or slow
moving sightseers over the years, but why does that mean someone (everyone)
else who behaves responsibly and courteously can't enjoy the resource in the
manner they choose? It's ridiculous.
No, Wade, you can't jog out and stop to look at the dolphins, smiling and
yielding to walkers, you must walk! I don't care if you like to run
because it lets you see more of the park in the time you have. If you ever
have both feet off the ground at once, you'll be heavily fined, on a per
stride sliding scale! And no, skipping with joy is obviously prohibited as
well, don't be a smart ass! Slow down, son, you're just begging to get
Tased and thrown in the slammer! Don't make us put out the tack strip!
I guess rangers will have to get certifications from the Olympic Training
Center from the race-walking judges. And you can be sure I'll be (walking)
straight in to see the head ranger and file formal charges if I EVER see any
little kids scampering down that trail. Just because they can't read the
sign doesn't get them off the hook.
