[SDCBC] Gilman/I-5 "Just one more thing...."

Dear SDCBC readers:
So, today, I successfully negotiated, steered and lane changed my way past
a) the rockfall in the bike lane southbound on Gilman -- hey, didn't I
toss those back to the side on Monday?
b) the apartment building street parking right before the bike lane
starts up again
c) the transition from the right side bike lane to the left of the right
turn lane bike lane despite the added complexity of someone turning left
from Northbound Gilman to get into the Park & Ride lot and not
believing someone wearing a blaze orange sweatshirt on a bike could be
moving THAT fast
d) nobody wanting to turn right from the through lane (and I checked)

only to think "oh my stars and garters my roadie sense is tingling" as I
tode with the green through the Gilman/La Jolla Colonoy/I-5 offramp
intersection and noticed a slight flurry of motiom that could be a
vehicle to the right of the vehicles positioned for left turns there.
Yup, as I pass them, a large sedan's driver decides to inch past the
crosswalk!
Brake! Stop! "You -- STOP RIGHT THERE! Thank you" go before the light
changes.
I notice the city or CalTrans has replaced the "Stop Here On Red" sign.
Is there a "Do Not Block Crosswalk" sign in the approved CalTrans sign
arsenal? Or would that be to unequal in favor of cyclists and
pedestrians and joggers with jogger baby strollers? Sorry, my sarcasm is
showing.
Bonus news; Goodness knows when I'll get the film developed, but I got
what I think is a pretty good shot of a commuter going off-pavement in
Rose Canyon to avoid the wet spot. I'm doing a gallery of bike traffic
hazards in a half-hearted way....
