[SDCBC] Frye encourages bicycling...

Dear Mr. Baross:
I donno -- "dedicated bike paths" may give an impression of safety, but
I saw one of my ride buddies do an endo with road rash, a busted (carbon
fiber) handlebar and a majorly tweaked rear wheel after the guy on the
full suspension downhill bike headed, where else, downhill, skidded out
and into him. The cause of this mayhem? A blind corner on a multi-use path.
And when one considers the number of joggers, dog walkers and other
recreators besides cyclists on the "Rose Canyon Bike Path" (home of
another blind corner or two, and some pretty interesting paving), well,
I don't feel like telling them to "get off the bike path." It'd make me
feel like a honking steel cager. The Rose Canyon Bike Path is very
useful in my commute, but that's only because it's the only legal road
bike way to follow the path I-5 takes from PB to University City.
We've already got thousands of miles of roads in San Diego County and
the city, what could be done about encouraging people to bicycle on
THEM? After all, they're already paid for. A little repaving and
repainting, and they'd be as good as new.

Robert Leone, geez, I'm pretty crabby right now, better get some sleep.
Maybe I should ask Mr. Peterson if he'd like to go an a "Ride and
Learn." Or take Road One.
