[SDCBC] warning on Carmel Valley Road

Hello all,
I got a call today from some folks at the City. As part of the Carmel Valley
Road improvement project between Torrey Pines/Coast Highway and Sorrento
Valley Road, the city is widening the road, improving the parking, and
including a bike lane. That's the good part! Unfortunately, it seems they
are going to be adding some 'pop-outs' to act as traffic calming devices.
Normally this wouldn't be a problem, but apparently at least one of these is
currently in the bike lane. The offending pop-out is on eastbound Carmel
Valley Road, before the entrance to the Torrey Pines Preserve parking area.
I haven't seen it myself (a field trip for tomorrow. :-) but from the
reports I thought it was important to send out a head's up. If any of you
have seen this particular design feature, please let me know what you think.
