Stephan: It was about 17 years ago that I began riding to work every day, at
that time from Encinitas to UCSD. I wanted lights that were bright enough
to use under all conditions, I wanted to see where I was going and I wanted to
be seen. I felt that the 25 watt Night Sun was sufficiently bright to handle
the job.
I ride rain or shine (not much rain of course) and riding down Torrey Pines
grade on a dark night in heavy rain takes more than a 3 watt system. I also
believe that when I am riding in traffic at night, a 25 watt head lamp, besides
allowing me to see the many pot holes and rroad problems, also puts me on an
more equal footing with other vehicles.
So in my way of thinking, a bright light is a necessary part of the kit for
riding a bicycle on the road at night. I wouldn't want to try to drive a car
at night with a couple of 3 watt lights for illumination, I don't see a need to
do it on my bike when good lights are available.
That's the way I look at it...
Jon
