I finally listened to Serge and got a rearview mirror, despite earlier very
unsatisfactory experiences with two different eyeglass-mounted systems. Last
night I glued my new CycleAware Reflex mirror to my Giro Xen (great helmet,
by the way, albeit expensive), after cutting away some of the visor for
clearance. This morning I rode a 20-mile loop through Leucadia, La Costa,
and San Elijo Hills, choosing my mountain bike for its stability and general
ease of use while I acclimated myself to the mirror and experimented with
adjustments. It took me awhile to learn how to adjust the mirror optimally
and to dip my left shoulder when I wanted to look rearward, but overall I
think I really like the mirror. That's one small new trick for this old dog.
