[SDCBC] Pomerado Road Bike Lanes in Poway

Hello all - I'm back!
I did talk to Zubir and he assured me that the bike lane removal on Pomerado is temporary and only for the construction of the median. Once the construction is complete the bike lanes will be back.

Dave,

I found the original article in the March 21 issue of the Poway Chieftain about the bike lanes. I can see where people would be confused whether the removal is temporary or not. This excerpt certainly makes it sound permanent:

"Biking enthusiasts will no longer have a dedicated bike lane in front of the hospital due to the addition of the median, but, in that area, the lane closest to the hospital will be 14-feet wide, three feet wider than the outer lane, to allow bikes and cars enough travel room, Poway traffic engineer Zubir Ouada said.

Well also be putting up diamond-shaped bike signs, along with share the road signs underneath, he added. "

But if the city is telling Kathy that it is temporary, I am sure they wouldn't lie about it The reporter must have misquoted the traffic engineer.

Of course, there is always the ongoing arguments in the bicycling community about whether bike lanes are desirable or not so the wider lane may be the better solution.
