Hello all,
FYI Howard forwarded this to me about helping the military families on Camp
Pendleton. I think it would be a nice gesture if cyclists in the community
banded together to make a donation this holiday season. You can either send
the donation to Howard and he'll put them all together to donate in the name
of San Diego cyclists, or you can send a donation directly to the Military
Outreach Ministry (http://www.militaryoutreach.org/id1.html)

Subject: looking for your help
Dear Celo members and any other Cyclists
My name is Howard Reitzes. I have been a member of Celo for a few years now
and really enjoy the group and people in it.
I don't often get involved in causes but I just read an article in the local
paper that has me very upset. I want to help and I am asking for your help
as well.
The title of the article is "Food lines help hungry military families" it
goes on to explain that there are more then 2000 families on the Camp
Pentleton base that are going without food. I can't believe the military
would let families starve while there husband are in Iraq fighting for us,
but it is true. The article their talks about mothers standing in long lines
just to get "day old bread" and some canned goods.
I could go on about this forever. The bottom line is, I am asking the
members of Celo for help in the way of a donation.
We cyclists use the base weekly and rarely give a thought to the fact that
the troops are fighting and dying in Iraq while we are sprinting up
"Separation Hill".
The money will go to the Military Outreach Ministry at Camp Pendleton to
help buy food for these families.
Please give a little or a lot but please give something. No one should go
hungry.
If you have any questions please give me a call at 760-730-9060
I am going to ask all the clubs in San Diego for their support as well.
I want the families and Military to know that we are thankful for the use of
the base and want to give something back.
All the clubs that give will be listed in the donation.
Please send checks to:
Howard Reitzes
3485 Ridgecrest Dr.
Carlsbad, Calif. 92008
760-730-9060
and make the checks out to: Military Outreach Ministry
Please forward to all members and any other clubs or people that you think
might be willing to help.
